CENTRALIZED LEAVE SERVICES
Absence and Leave Management
For eligible employees
Leave situations vary and can be very confusing and overwhelming at times. Our office helps manage leave requests and assistance with paperwork processing for certain leave requests. The following provides you with information on what types of leave we manage, how they are managed, and how our department can help.
- GENERAL LEAVE BENEFITS
OSU offers many different leave options for eligible employees and includes procedures for inclement weather and other types of leave situations.
- UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
Federal and state laws determine the eligibility requirements and the type of coverage for these benefits. Students may be exempt from some benefits.
Unemployment Compensation Insurance
The provisions of the Oklahoma Employment Security Act apply to most OSU employees. OSU pays the full cost of these benefits. The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission determines eligibility of a terminated employee for unemployment benefits based upon the circumstances of the termination.
For more information review their website at oesc.ok.gov/.
- WORKERS' COMPENSATION
To improve safety of employees, reduce workers’ compensation claims, ensure excellent care for our employees, and contain costs, the university has changed some of the processes involved in workers’ compensation administration.
- FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE (FMLA)
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is an unpaid leave which provides job protection and insurance premium sharing for eligible employees for serious medical conditions.
- OSU PAID PARENTAL LEAVE
OSU Paid Parental Leave supports new parents with paid time off to care for and bond with their child after birth, adoption, or placement of foster child(ren).
- PAID MEDICAL LEAVE POOL
Effective July 1, 2024, the Paid Medical Leave Pool supports employees by providing pay when they are impacted by catastrophic medical occurrences and have exhausted their available accrued leave.
- LONG-TERM DISABILITY
Long-term disability (LTD) insurance provides income during periods of medical disability.
- SHORT-TERM DISABILITY
Short-term disability insurance provides a cash benefit when you are out of work for up to 14 weeks due to injury, illness, surgery, or recover from childbirth.
- MILITARY LEAVE
OSU supports employees who serve in state or national military units and provides employment protections, rights, and benefits to those employees who serve our country.
- LEAVE OF ABSENCE
