Online Learning with LinkedIn Learning

Talent Development & Recruitment is pleased to make online learning available to full-time faculty and staff (.50 FTE or greater) with LinkedIn Learning. LinkedIn Learning is an on-demand video platform.

LinkedIn Learning's library of more than 17,000 online courses is accessible 24/7 from any device.

Getting Started

To get started, click here, then click the “Sign in” button in the top right corner, input your OSU email address and complete any verification steps which may follow. You can also access LinkedIn Learning directly from LinkedIn. The OSU LinkedIn Learning link is available in the "My Useful Links" tab at talent.okstate.edu.

To receive the greatest benefit from LinkedIn Learning, we recommend linking your LinkedIn profile to your LinkedIn Learning account during initial account registration. Connecting your LinkedIn profile to Learning not only provides fast access to the Learning platform from within your profile, but also indicates courses and certifications on your profile as you complete them.

Get the most from LinkedIn Learning

• As a first time LinkedIn Learning user, what do I do when I sign in?

  The first time you sign in, you will step through an easy process to create a LinkedIn Learning profile that personalizes the default video content based on your skills and interests.

  If you already have a LinkedIn account, you can add your Learning profile to it. If not, you can simply create a LinkedIn Learning account.

• Am I required to connect a LinkedIn Learning profile to my LinkedIn account?

  No, but connecting your LinkedIn.com profile enables additional features and personalized content recommendations.

  Only your basic profile information (e.g. name, job title, skills, photo) will be shared. Private activity from your personal LinkedIn account is not shared.

  If you decide to opt-out of using your LinkedIn profile, a separate LinkedIn Learning account will be provisioned to you and is not connected to LinkedIn.com.

  If you decide to opt-in, connecting your profile results in a more personalized learning experience that includes special course recommendations based on your job title, skills, and industry.

  Users can add LinkedIn Learning course certificates to their connected LinkedIn account.

• Who has access to LinkedIn Learning?

  All benefits-eligible faculty and staff can access LinkedIn Learning at no additional cost with their O-key credentials.

• What topics/courses are available?

  LinkedIn Learning currently has over 17,000+ courses across a variety of topics, with 30-70 new courses added weekly.

• Where does the content on LinkedIn Learning come from and how is the quality verified?

  LinkedIn Learning produces all of its content in-house in their production studios in California and Austria using experts (authors, business leaders, researchers, etc.) in their fields—not actors—as content creators. The result is top-notch courses that meet LinkedIn’s high, in-house standards.

• Is there a mobile app?

  Yes, and this is a popular option for those who want to learn on-the-go. In the app store on your mobile device, download the LinkedIn Learning app. You will log in with your same desktop credentials, and your learning will go with you wherever you go. Using the mobile app is slightly different and offers the option to turn courses to “audio-only” via a toggle within each course.

• What happens to my LinkedIn profile if I leave the university?

  Progress on LinkedIn Learning will be preserved, however, users will no longer have access to the universities' iteration of LinkedIn Learning.

  The user would need to contact LinkedIn Learning directly to discuss having their progress transferred to a personal, non-university account.

  Additionally, users who synced their progress to their LinkedIn profile should not be distributed. Similarly, users will need to contact LinkedIn Learning directly if they have issues with LinkedIn syncs following leaving the university.
