Do You Know Your Medical Plan Now Offers a Benefits Value Advisor Program?

As of January 1, 2019, all OSU/A&M employees and their covered family members on the BlueCross BlueShield of Oklahoma health plans have access to the Benefits Value Advisor (BVA) to help maximize your health plan.

What is that?

The Benefits Value Advisor Program is a provider finder tool through BAM or by calling the number on the back of your 2019 insurance card. The trained advisors can assist you in better understanding your benefits, give cost estimates, assist with pre-certifications and schedule appointments with your provider.

How can a Benefits Value Advisor save you $100 and lower costs to the OSU/A&M Medical Plan?

The Plan Design Changes for 2019 include a new $100 fee for MRI and CT scans (for non-emergencies), effective January 1, 2019.

You can save the $100 fee for MRIs and CT scans by speaking with a Benefits Value Advisor before getting an MRI or CT scan to learn about your benefits, review the difference in estimated costs of several different in-network providers. You will save money by selecting a provider who delivers the same treatment at a lower cost.

How much do costs really vary for the same procedure?

New! Member Rewards Program!

In addition, we are introducing Member Rewards!  Call BVA for any procedure you plan to have and see if you qualify for a Member Reward.  Member Rewards are possible for those participants that shop through BVA for lower costs facilities.  For example, in the illustration above on Brain MRIs, if you call BVA and choose the lowest cost facility, you may qualify for $150!  Member Rewards are determined by the facility you choose and the procedure you are having.  Member Rewards vary from $0 - $500. Member Rewards are checks mailed directly to the home address of the insured.
