ACCESS 2007 LEVEL I

Explore how to perform basic functions within the Access 2007 database environment. This seminar is designed for the beginning Access 2007 user.  No prior experience with Access is necessary; however, familiarity with the Office 2007 environment is highly desired. Topics covered in the seminar are: examining the user interface, using an existing database and customizing the Access 2007 environment; designing a database; building a database; managing data in a table; querying a database; designing forms; and generating reports.

The policy, procedures, and completion of forms regarding the direct purchase of commercial airfare and lodging with the purchasing card will be covered in this training.  If the election is chosen on the Commercial Card Cardholder Account Form to become an authorized direct airfare and/or lodging purchaser or approver, the cardholder and the approver are required to attend this training.  The training must be completed before using a new or existing purchasing card to purchase airfare and/or lodging.

Did you hire a new employee and need to fill out the new hire paperwork, but do not know where to start? This session will cover how to complete a payroll sign-up packet. The payroll sign-up packet includes the completion of EA forms, Exceptions to Normal Pay, I-9s, Loyalty Oaths, Personal Information Forms (PIFs), W-4s, Work Clearance, and Check Distribution Forms. Also included is a discussion of Human Resources’ on-line guides, forms, and other helpful web-based resources such as Web For Employees. The HRS Access Request form may be downloaded from the OSU Human Resources web page at http://hr.okstate.edu. Participants must attend Session I of the HRStar Program before attending other sessions.

EXPORT CONTROLS, CLASSIFIED AND RESTRICTED PROJECTS, AND THE RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR

Required for Basic Research Administration Program
Although the University makes every effort to ensure research conducted can be classified as fundamental research under the export control regulations, there are some cases where access to technology by foreign researchers or restrictions placed on information by sponsors may remove projects from the fundamental category. The regulations governing exports under the authority of the United States Departments of Commerce and State are difficult and complex. This session will cover what export controls are; under what circumstances research projects and/or information may be impacted by those regulations; what an export license is and how it is obtained; Technology Control Plans; and OSU’s export control program. The session will also include a discussion of security issues involved in projects classified as "sensitive," "classified," or "sensitive but unclassified."

The OSU SCT HRS System includes employee data, pay input screens, and e~Print. Information covered in the HRS segment includes: employee demographic data, assignments, I-9s and international employee data, leave accrual, benefits, labor distribution, and deductions. HRS screens are viewed in order to become familiar with their format, the data displayed, and terminology. Help features, such as field help, the glossary and the ‘How To’ menu are explained. The pay input segment includes viewing the bi-weekly time, monthly confirmation, special payments, and labor distribution screens. The e~Print segment includes viewing various wage and leave reports via the Web using Adobe Acrobat Reader. All participants are required to have their own SCT Operator ID number and password.
